English indices of deprivation 2015
The 30th September 2015 saw the publication of the 2015 English indices of deprivation. The indices were updated by the Oxford Consultants for Social Inclusion (OCSI) on behalf of the Department for Communities and Local Government. As far as is possible, each indicator is based on data from the most recent time point available; in practice most indicators relate to the tax year 2012/13. It is important to note that these statistics are a measure of relative deprivation, not affluence, and to recognise that not every person in a highly deprived area will themselves be deprived. Likewise, there will be some deprived people living in the least deprived areas.

Key Results for Newham
- Newham is no longer in the 20 most deprived local authorities.
- Newham has moved from having a Rank of Extent of Deprivation of 2 to 25.
- The borough has moved from being ranked 2nd in the rank of average rank to 8th.
- Average Score: Newham is ranked 23rd, in 2010 the borough was 3rd .
- Proportion of LSOAs in the 10% most deprived nationally, there are 13 in Newham, in 2010 there were 50.
- Local Concentration: Newham is ranked 116th, in 2010 the borough was 51.
- Income scale: Newham is ranked at 13th compared to 8th in 2010.
- Employment Scale: Newham is ranked 21st compared with 32nd in 2010.
