    Newham Key Facts document updated - January 2017
    An updated version of Newham Key Facts can be found in the Resource section of Newham Info under the Newham Overview theme.

    The purpose of this product is to provide a set of readily available official statistics for Newham. All information is already in the public domain and a hyperlink is provided for each statistic, enabling further dataset exploration as different geographies, time periods, age bands, variables and categories may be available.



    The document is designed to be printed as handy leaflet; when printing remember to select print on both sides and select flip pages on the short edge (found on the finishing tab of printer properties).

    ONS 2015 Mid-Year Estimates (MYE), small areas published
    The Office for National Statistics (ONS) published their 2015 mid-year population estimates for small areas on 26th October 2016.

    These are the official population estimates for the UK as at 30 June 2015.

    The Newham Household Panel Survey (NHPS) Wave 8 published.
    The Newham Household Panel Survey (NHPS) is a longitudinal panel survey carried out by independent researchers on behalf of the London Borough of Newham every two years.
    It provides the Council with a rich level of insight into the changing needs of the local population. It is also used to help develop local priorities to determine future commissioning strategies and evaluate services. It aims to understand changes in the resident population and the consequent demands placed on Council services.

    ONS 2015 Mid-Year Estimate (MYE) published
    The Office for National Statistics (ONS) published their 2015 Mid-Year population Estimate on 23rd June 2016.

    These are the official population estimates for the UK as at 30 June 2015. They are based on the census and are updated annually to account for population change during the period from 1 July to 30 June. The two main contributors to population change are natural change (births minus deaths) and net migration (the difference between long-term moves into and out of the UK or local areas).


    A Demography Bulletin has been produced as a result of this publication , which provides some initial findings.
