The London Borough of Newham runs a variety of consultations on issues affecting all residents and businesses in the borough. The results of these consultations are fed directly into our policy and decision making processes. Please see the London Borough of Newham Consultation Strategy for further information:

Consultation Strategy

How and what do we consult on?

We consult our customers throughout the year on our services. It is really important for us to know what our customers think because it helps us to shape the services we provide.

When appropriate we consult on:

  • What you think about proposals/policy?
  • What you would like from our services?
  • How satisfied you are with our services?
  • What we could do to improve our services?

We use a variety of methods to consult including:

  • Online questionnaires
  • Postal questionnaires
  • Telephone questionnaires
  • Face to face interviews
  • Focus/discussion groups
  • Events/workshops

Why does the London Borough of Newham consult with the people of Newham?

We want to work in partnership with you, the people of Newham, to improve the borough and consultation is at the heart of this partnership.

Effective consultation provides us with vital information about how we can meet the diverse needs of people living, studying, working and visiting the city. By getting involved in local affairs, you can influence decisions about public services. This can result in improvements in the quality of life for local communities.

Consultation also strengthens local democracy by encouraging a closer relationship between decision-makers and the people affected by their decisions. We believe consultation is vital to the creation of sustainable communities.
